Who? Unidentified gunmen targeted members of the offshoot Ahmadi sect of Islam.
What? At least 80 worshippers lost their lives whereas 90 others were wounded in the twin attacks.
Where? The attacks took place at two mosques in separate neighbourhoods of the eastern Pakistani city of Lahore.
When? Assailants stormed the packed mosques during the Friday afternoon prayers.
Why? Ahmadis, also known as Qadianis in Pakistan, are labelled as infidels by the Muslim majority in the country. The offshoot sect believes that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad is the final prophet of Islam and not Prophet Muhammad. A religious movement in early 1970s forced the government of Pakistan to declare Ahmadis as non-Muslims.
How? The attackers, known to be at least four, entered two mosques armed with automatic weapons, grenades and explosives-packed jackets. They sprayed bullets while the Friday sermon was delivered. One assailant threw grenades from the minaret while three others exploded their suicide vests amidst worshippers triggering heavy fatalities.
the why part is absolutely wrong…..the ahmades do believe that the Holy prophet muhammad is the last messsenger of God and no new shariat (quran) will come after this…….instead of just assuming things and blatantly misguiding people in an ALREADY misguided worl…..MR Khawaja who SPECIALISES in politics and etc etc should go to the website of the ahmadis and find out what they actuallly believe in

In no way FPJ means to misguide people. Please let me know then what the dispute is all about and what is the position of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad in the eyes of Ahmadis? Ahmadis do accept Prophet Muhammad as a prophet but dispute the finality. The facts mentioned above are also recognised and mentioned by other sources like BBC, Reuters, Al-Jazeera and others.
i would have imagined as a journalist you would have made an effort not to post information that would not derail the spotlight off the passing of the tragedy. I was wrong, your journalism still needs work-remove your own biases and report the impact of this tragedy knowing no one is immune to any form of calamity. Today it is the Ahmadiyya mosque, tomorrow it could certainly be the one your family attends-I am sure you would not want to be angered with the political correctness when your loved ones are suffering. Ahmadis do believe in Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) as a last law bearing Prophet-there is no doubt or debate! Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (RA) is the Messiah and Mehdi whose advent was foretold by our Holy Prophet on whom be peace. The Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) said Islam will be divided into 73 sects and the last will be the true reformers and followers of Islam. The Saudis labelled the Ahmadis as the 73 sect of Islam before ousting them. To my Pakistani brothers-on you be Gods peace and blessgings-remain steadfast and God eill never leave you. This community is not short of any miracles/ blessings-we are patient! I hope God may guide you to refine your journalist skills at least for the sake of humanity!

the tragedy that happened is heinous indeed and as a human being I condemn it in strongest terms possible. My sympathies are with any sect of any religion of this world, be it a majority or minority. No one in this world deserves violence and killing. Parts of the world are void of tolerance and pluralism and your country happens to be one of them which makes me feel sad personally.
In regards to your objection over publishing facts, I do not believe it is the problem. Everyone needs to know the ‘WHY’ part of the news event to understand the background. The problem is with the acceptance of facts. People tend to dispute them hence start a controversy. Many Ahmadis believe Ghulam Ahmad was the last prophet of Islam whereas other believe he was the messiah and not a prophet. The prevailing belief is the former.

I just want to correct that no Ahmadi Muslim believes that Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad was the last Prophet of Islam. Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad claimed that Prophet Hazrat Muhammad SAW was the last law bearing (Sharai) prophet. Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad was the promised Messiah, Mehdi and also non law bearing (ghair Sharai Nabi) prophet whose mission was to teach and spread the true Islam and bring the whole world under the flag of ISLAM. Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad did not bring any new Sharia nor he made any change in Sharia. I am an Ahmadi Muslim and I know the fact. Don’ t believe me or any Maulvi because this is matter of your faith. I urge u to go to Ahmadiyya website and read the books of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad with fair mind and good intention I hope u will find the truth. May Allah guide us all to the right path and May Allah protect every soul from the agents of Shaitan who murder innocent people in the name of religion.
