Betfury is under fire after a string of customer complaints alleging the crypto casino locked accounts and blocked withdrawals following large wins in August. Multiple sources who spoke about their experiences described a pattern that raises questions about the platform’s payout practices.
One affected customer said their account was frozen shortly after a significant win was credited.
“My withdrawal request was rejected and has been pending for over 5 weeks after I tried to cash out $24,000 of winnings from Betfury,” he told Foreign Policy Journal.
Several other Betfury gamblers reported a similar pattern of their withdrawals being rejected and customer support being unresponsive while trying to cash out winnings.
The pattern of large wins preceding sudden restrictions has fueled speculation among the affected players that the checks are being used selectively to prevent Betfury from paying out winnings.
Separately, this publication received information suggesting Betfury has encouraged its affiliate network to promote VPN usage as a way for audiences to bypass geo-blocking and regulatory restrictions in markets where the platform is not licensed.
A Betfury employee shared emails and internal notes showing that the online casino has been actively encouraging affiliates, who earn a share of the losses that their referred players generate, to promote VPN usage to avoid regulatory restrictions.
If accurate, the practice would mark a significant compliance concern, since encouraging VPN use to circumvent geo-restrictions is widely viewed across the gambling industry as a workaround for jurisdictions where an operator lacks a license. This practice could lead to significant fines for Betfury from regulators.
