Nebius Group (NASDAQ: NBIS) surged nearly 12% on Friday after announcing a deal to acquire inference optimisation specialist Eigen AI in a transaction valued at approximately $643 million.
Eigen strives to make running AI models faster and cheaper by reducing compute and memory usage. Nebius plans to integrate Eigen’s technology into its Token Factory managed inference platform, which enables developers to deploy, refine, and scale AI models.
The deal includes approximately $98 million in cash and 3.8 million Nebius shares, with the valuation based on the company’s 30-day weighted average stock price. Eigen’s founders are expected to join Nebius’ research and development team and will also help establish a new engineering centre near San Francisco.
The acquisition follows a period of rapid expansion. Computing deals signed with Microsoft and Meta have built credibility around the company’s technical capabilities and serve as a foundation for attracting more profitable enterprise clients going forward.
Analysts expect Nebius Group (NASDAQ: NBIS) to report Q1 2026 revenue of $388.6 million when it releases earnings on May 13, representing 600% year-over-year growth. Revenue outperformance and forward guidance will be the key sentiment drivers on the day.
The company also recently closed a $4.34 billion convertible debt funding round and announced plans to construct a 310MW AI factory in Finland as part of its European infrastructure buildout. Shares traded around $155 in early May, well above the 52-week low of $23.25.
