The Foreign Policy Journal is a digital news publication covering US and global politics, international affairs, business, and financial markets. Since our launch in 2008, we have built a reputation for rigorous, agenda-free journalism that cuts through the noise of the 24-hour news cycle and delivers analysis that actually matters.
We are always looking for sharp, informed writers to contribute to our growing editorial community. Whether you are an established journalist, an academic with policy expertise, or a knowledgeable professional with something meaningful to say, we want to hear from you.
What We Cover
Our editorial scope spans five core areas:
US Politics — From Capitol Hill to the White House, we cover elections, legislation, executive policy, and the forces that shape American governance.
Global Affairs — Foreign policy, international relations, diplomatic developments, conflict zones, and the geopolitical shifts redefining the world order.
Business & Markets — Corporate strategy, mergers and acquisitions, earnings analysis, and the macroeconomic trends moving Wall Street and beyond.
Stock Market Analysis — Data-driven coverage of equities, indices, commodities, and investor sentiment across global financial markets.
Current Affairs — Breaking news and in-depth features on the issues dominating the global conversation, from trade disputes to energy policy to election cycles.
What We Are Looking For
We publish original, well-argued pieces that go beyond the surface of a story. We are not interested in opinion for its own sake. We value contributors who bring sourced evidence, analytical depth, and a clear point of view grounded in expertise.
Strong pitches typically fall into one of the following categories:
- News analysis — A timely piece that unpacks a developing story and explains what it means for readers
- Opinion and commentary — A well-evidenced argument on a policy, political, or market issue
- Long-form features — Deep-dive investigations or profiles with original reporting
- Data-driven analysis — Market breakdowns, economic indicators, and financial trend pieces backed by numbers
Submission Guidelines
- Word count: 600 to 1,500 words for standard contributions; up to 3,000 for long-form features
- All submissions must be original and not simultaneously submitted to other publications
- Include a short author bio of no more than 50 words
- Attach any relevant data sources, citations, or supporting links within the body of your pitch
Turnaround on pitches is typically five to seven business days. We edit all accepted pieces for style, clarity, and accuracy, and will contact you before making any substantive changes to your work.
How To Pitch
Send your pitch or completed draft to our editorial team at [email protected]. Include the proposed headline, a two to three sentence summary of your argument, and a brief note on your relevant background.
We look forward to reading your work and considering your contributed article.
