Walmart (NYSE: WMT) is moving forward with a major logistics investment in Warren County, Ohio, anchored by a new fulfillment center specializing in large, non-sortable merchandise.
The facility, located at 760 Encore Drive in Turtlecreek Township, will handle oversized items including televisions, furniture, and other bulky goods that require dedicated warehousing infrastructure.
Walmart purchased nearly 100 acres in Warren County to support the project, which carries a total investment of more than $300 million.
REDI Cincinnati, in partnership with JobsOhio, announced the project and highlighted its significance for the Greater Cincinnati region’s growing logistics corridor.
The new center is designed to strengthen Walmart’s next-day delivery network by positioning inventory closer to customers and enabling faster fulfillment of high-volume, large-format orders.
Walmart expects to create 315 full-time-equivalent positions at the site, generating an estimated $19.5 million in new annual payroll, with job-creation targets set for completion by December 31, 2029.
“Greater Cincinnati has been an important part of Walmart’s operations for years, and this investment represents the next chapter in our commitment to the region,” said Karisa Sprague, senior vice president of Fulfillment Operations at Walmart U.S.
“This new facility will complement our existing network, create hundreds of new jobs in Warren County and help us serve customers even faster by bringing more products closer to where they live,” Sprague added.
The Turtlecreek facility will operate alongside Walmart’s existing fulfillment center at 650 Gateway Boulevard in Monroe, which currently employs more than 200 associates and will continue running independently.
The Ohio Tax Credit Authority approved a 1.662%, nine-year tax credit to support the project, reflecting state-level backing for the investment.
REDI Cincinnati President and CEO Kimm Lauterbach noted that “Warren County has established itself as a premier location for distribution and logistics, and Walmart’s investments in Monroe and Turtlecreek Township reinforce the strength of the I-75 corridor.”
JobsOhio President and CEO J.P. Nauseef pointed to Walmart’s deep roots in the state, noting the company employs nearly 60,000 associates across more than 175 stores, clubs, and supply chain facilities in Ohio.
“This latest investment builds on that strong foundation, creating new jobs and economic opportunity while strengthening Ohio’s position as a destination for advanced logistics and supply chain operations,” Nauseef said.
Turtlecreek Township Trustee Jonathan D. Sams welcomed the announcement, saying, “We’re proud to welcome Walmart to Encore Park and Turtlecreek Township,” citing new jobs and broader economic benefits for the local community.
Warren County Commissioner Dave Young credited collaboration among the township, county, state agencies, REDI Cincinnati, and Core5 Industrial Partners for securing the project for Warren County.
The Turtlecreek center marks the second Walmart fulfillment center announcement within a two-month span, underscoring the retailer’s accelerating push to expand domestic supply chain capacity.
No official opening date for the new facility has been released by Walmart or its partners at this time.
