Trump is set to take the stage on the opening night of the Republican National Committee’s Midterm Convention in Dallas on September 9, reshuffling the previously announced schedule.
“The Greatest RALLY of them all,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post, announcing the change to his planned appearance at the event.
“I’ll be speaking on night one, and hanging around for an earlier closing, and lots of music, on night two!!! See you in Dallas,” Trump added in the same post.
Vice President J.D. Vance had originally been scheduled to deliver the keynote address on night one, with Trump set to close out the convention on night two.
It remains unclear how Trump’s announcement will affect the rest of the previously confirmed schedule, including Vance’s keynote role and other planned appearances.
Trump had previously signaled his enthusiasm for the event in an August statement, in which he indicated he would “be with you both nights.”
Senate Majority Leader John Thune of South Dakota, House Speaker Mike Johnson of Louisiana, and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton are all expected to attend the convention.
Paxton is currently running for Senate in Texas, making his appearance at the Dallas event particularly significant given the state’s role as host and his own political ambitions.
The convention, described as the first of its kind for a midterm cycle, is shaping up to be a major mobilization event for the Republican Party ahead of the upcoming elections.
The RNC is also set to honor the legacy of Charlie Kirk during the convention, with the organization planning to convert that recognition into a voter mobilization effort on the anniversary of the political commentator’s death.
The Dallas gathering represents a significant moment for the Republican Party, bringing together its leading figures to energize the base and set the tone heading into a critical midterm election cycle.
