NuScale Power Corporation (NYSE: SMR) says it has satisfied the key preconditions for commercial deployment of its small modular reactor technology amid rising demand for carbon-free electricity.

The company highlighted U.S. regulatory approvals, mature engineering work, fuel availability, and a largely contracted supply chain as foundations for its next phase of growth.

President and CEO John Hopkins made clear during the company’s second-quarter 2026 earnings call that NuScale’s preparation strategy has centered on completing engineering and building out its supply chain before breaking ground on any project.

“The preconditions for us to move are in place,” Hopkins said in closing remarks. “The regulatory approval exists. Our fuel supply exists.”

Hopkins also noted that the nuclear industry’s near-term opportunity is increasingly shaped by customers seeking clean power on timelines aligned with their own expansion plans.

NuScale’s VOYGR small modular reactor design sits at the heart of its commercial offering, featuring 77-megawatt electric modules equipped with passive safety systems intended to simplify operations and reduce risk.

The company has developed partnerships with Doosan Enerbility, Framatome, and Paragon Energy Solutions as part of its effort to secure a resilient and capable supplier network ahead of construction.

Strategic partner ENTRA1 Energy is actively negotiating a potential power purchase agreement with the Tennessee Valley Authority for a possible deployment ranging from 6 to 8 gigawatts.

NuScale is simultaneously pursuing opportunities across data centers, utilities, industrial users, and international customers, reflecting the broad range of sectors now looking to nuclear power as a baseload clean energy solution.

The company reported total liquidity of $1.9 billion, reinforcing its message of financial readiness for deployment as it works to convert its pipeline into contracted projects.

However, the quarterly financial results presented a notable contrast to the optimistic outlook, with revenue coming in at just $0.1 million for the period, a decline of 98.8% compared to $8.1 million recorded in the same quarter a year earlier.

NuScale was established in 2007 as a spinout from Oregon State University and is headquartered in Portland, Oregon, with a mission focused on delivering zero-carbon baseload power through scalable modular reactor technology.
