Pratt & Whitney, an RTX (NYSE: RTX) business, has been awarded a nearly $1.3 billion undefinitized contract covering F135 engine spare parts for fiscal year 2026.
The contract is structured as an Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity agreement, commonly known as an IDIQ, providing flexible procurement across a range of sustainment needs.
Funding under the contract will cover F135 initial spare parts requirements, deployable spare packages, depot lay-ins, and associated support equipment for U.S. and international F-35 customers.
The F135 engine powers all three variants of the F-35 Lightning II, widely regarded as the world’s most advanced fighter aircraft currently in operational service.
Chris Johnson, vice president of Pratt & Whitney’s F135 Program, emphasized the strategic importance of the award to global operators relying on the platform.
“Ensuring the F135 remains mission-ready is critical to the success of the F-35 enterprise,” Johnson said, adding that the contract will strengthen the global sustainment network for operators worldwide.
The F135 sustainment enterprise currently maintains a global network spanning multiple depot facilities, 42 bases, and 13 ships across the world.
Pratt & Whitney has delivered more than 1,500 F135 production engines to customers across 20 allied nations, building one of the most extensive military propulsion networks in existence.
The company is also advancing the forthcoming F135 Engine Core Upgrade, which has been selected as the propulsion modernization solution for the broader F-35 fleet.
That upgrade will leverage the existing F135 sustainment network to deliver cost-effective, long-term capability improvements for global F-35 operators over the coming decades.

Pratt & Whitney itself has been a leading force in aircraft propulsion since 1925, currently supporting more than 90,000 in-service engines through its global maintenance, repair, and overhaul network.
