EssilorLuxottica (EPA: EL) and Meta (NASDAQ: META) have announced the launch of Meta Glasses, a new collection of AI-powered smart eyewear designed to bring the category to a broader consumer audience.

The new collection starts at $299, positioning it as a more attainable entry point into the smart eyewear market compared to the companies’ existing premium lineup.

EssilorLuxottica and Meta have built the AI glasses category from the ground up, developing the deepest product lineup currently available in the market.

Their portfolio already includes Ray-Ban Meta, described as the number one selling AI glasses in the world, alongside Oakley Meta, which the companies position around what they call Athletic Intelligence.

The portfolio also includes Meta Ray-Ban Display, the first AI glasses product to feature an in-lens display, representing a significant hardware milestone in the category.

Earlier in 2026, the introduction of Ray-Ban Meta Optics expanded the range further with styles optimized for prescription lenses and all-day wearing comfort.

Francesco Milleri, Chairman and CEO of EssilorLuxottica, said the companies see a clear opportunity to reach consumers who have yet to experience smart eyewear technology.

“More price-sensitive consumers will have an opportunity to experience the power that wearables bring into their everyday lives,” Milleri said.

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, framed the new collection around his broader vision for AI-powered wearables, stating that “glasses are going to be a main way people access personal superintelligence.”

“With Meta Glasses, we’re going to make that accessible to a lot more people,” Zuckerberg added.

The new Meta Glasses collection includes three Rx-able styles in rectangle, square and oval shapes, with lens options spanning clear, sun and Transitions lenses.

Meta Glasses are available now on Meta.com across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Germany, Spain and additional European markets.

The collection is also available at leading optical retailers including LensCrafters and Sunglass Hut in the United States, with additional markets and retail partners expected to be added later in the year.
