Meta Platforms, Inc. (NASDAQ: META) launched a new free standalone iOS application called Forum on Apple’s App Store on May 23, 2026, without any public announcement.
The app is dedicated entirely to Facebook Groups, streamlining group activity into a focused workspace for users.
Forum closely resembles Reddit, prioritizing discussion-first feeds and giving users the ability to post under nicknames rather than their real identities.
The application also features an AI-powered “Ask” search tab, setting it apart from traditional social media timeline formats.
A Meta spokesperson addressed the launch, stating: “We test lots of new products publicly to see what people find interesting and useful to their experiences across our apps.”
The Forum rollout is part of a broader app expansion effort for Meta, which also recently launched “Instants,” a Snapchat-like platform offering disappearing photo sharing.
In a separate development, Registered Investment Advisor JLens urged Meta shareholders to vote in favor of Shareholder Proposal 8 at the company’s annual meeting on May 27, 2026.
The proposal, backed by proxy advisory firm Glass Lewis, calls on Meta to produce a transparent report assessing its effectiveness in combating antisemitism and online hate.
JLens argued that unmitigated extremist content actively compromises advertiser safety, putting Meta’s core revenue channels at risk.
Founded in 2004 and headquartered in California, Meta Platforms builds technologies designed to help people connect, find communities, and grow businesses through its “Family of Apps.”
