Former Georgia congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has escalated her feud with President Donald Trump by revealing the contents of a text message exchange she says left her shaken and confirmed her shift away from the MAGA movement. Greene resigned from the House of Representatives in January 2025 following a series of public clashes with the president over his administration’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files.
Speaking on Piers Morgan’s television programme, Greene said the final communication she had with Trump came after she alerted him to death threats being made against her children, threats she said had been inflamed by his repeated description of her as a traitor. She told Morgan that Trump’s response showed no compassion and placed the blame squarely on her.
“He had no compassion for death threats on my children,” Greene stated during the interview. “He blamed me basically that if my son were to get killed, it would be my fault.” Greene described the exchange as a defining moment, telling Morgan that it told her exactly who Trump is as a person.
The former lawmaker said she had also forwarded the threatening messages to FBI Director Kash Patel and Vice President JD Vance, but felt her concerns were ignored across the administration. She claimed that Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, described as a mother and a grandmother, also failed to respond.
Greene said the exchange was unlike anything she had experienced from political opponents across the aisle. “Some of my biggest political enemies would never say that to me. Democrats that I may have had disagreements with in Congress would have never said those types of words to me,” she argued.
The rift between Greene and Trump has been building since she began publicly pressuring the administration to release the Epstein files. Trump subsequently pulled his political endorsement and branded her a traitor in multiple social media posts, language she says directly contributed to the threats she and her family received.
Greene has also claimed that she possesses additional text messages from Trump that she has said she cannot publicly release without facing serious legal consequences. She has continued to describe the MAGA movement as having been captured by one man’s ego rather than a genuine political cause.
The White House has not formally responded to Greene’s latest statements. Trump has maintained a hostile public posture toward Greene since her departure from Congress.
