Trump Media and Technology Group (NASDAQ: DJT) CEO Kevin McGurn has declined to address ongoing investigations into the company’s Truth API product at a high-profile industry event.
McGurn was speaking onstage at Axios’ annual Media Trends Live event in New York City when he was directly questioned about the investigations.
When pressed on the matter, McGurn stated “some of these investigations are ongoing, so I can’t really comment on them specifically.”
He added, “Just don’t want to get too far ahead of it,” signaling the company’s intent to stay cautious while scrutiny of the product intensifies.
Democratic lawmakers have called for formal investigations into Truth API, alleging that selling faster access to President Trump’s market-moving posts could constitute insider trading.
The concern centers on the idea that paying subscribers could gain a financial advantage by acting on Trump’s posts before the broader public has a chance to read them.
TMTG launched Truth API earlier this year, offering accelerated access to posts from Truth Social’s top 10 trending accounts to paying customers.
Critics argue that because Trump’s posts frequently move financial markets, providing tiered access to that content raises serious legal and ethical questions.
The allegations have drawn attention from Capitol Hill, where lawmakers have pushed for regulators to examine whether the product crosses the line into illegal market manipulation.
McGurn’s refusal to comment directly on the investigations leaves significant questions unanswered about the company’s legal exposure and the future of the Truth API product.
The episode reflects broader tensions surrounding Truth Social’s dual role as both a social media platform and a commercially monetized vehicle tied closely to the sitting president’s public statements.
As regulatory and congressional pressure builds, investors and market observers will be watching closely for any further developments regarding TMTG’s legal standing and business strategy.
