Enovix Corporation (NASDAQ: ENVX) has secured a purchase order for 100,000 silicon-anode battery units from an international manufacturer of dual-use drone systems.
The order marks a significant commercial milestone for the company, moving from laboratory-scale development to factory-level fulfillment in a demanding aerospace application.
Initial customer shipments are scheduled across the first half of 2027, with follow-on orders expected in the second half of 2027 and into subsequent years, subject to operational milestones.
The buyer plans to deploy Enovix battery packs across drone systems designed for both commercial delivery logistics and defense operations, reflecting growing dual-use demand in the sector.
Enovix utilizes a 100% active silicon anode arranged in a three-dimensional cell architecture, a design that offers energy density advantages over conventional graphite lithium-ion cells.
In aerospace applications, reducing weight directly extends operational range and sensor capacity, making silicon-anode technology particularly attractive to drone manufacturers pushing performance limits.
A key commercial advantage for Enovix is its TAA-compliant, military-qualified manufacturing facility in South Korea, which positions the company as a non-Chinese source of high-performance battery cells amid tightening trade restrictions.
Chief Revenue Officer and General Manager Steve Bakos said, “Drone makers need high-performance batteries from a qualified, non-Chinese source now, and this order shows Enovix can deliver.”
Bakos added, “It confirms that our technology performs in demanding applications and that our TAA-compliant, in-house manufacturing has real value to customers who need a secure source of supply.”
The order converts one opportunity from the approximately $216 million drone, defense and industrial pipeline Enovix reported on October 12, 2026, with additional pipeline conversions expected in coming quarters.
The drone pipeline alone grew 48% to approximately $150 million, underscoring the scale of commercial interest the company is working to capture.
Enovix reported preliminary third-quarter revenue of $11.0 million, representing 38% year-over-year growth and coming in above guidance, with drone and defense customers accounting for roughly 70% of that figure.
The company is investing $19 million to double the production capacity of its South Korean plant, signaling confidence that demand will continue to build beyond the current order book.
Shares responded sharply to the announcement, climbing 10.4% in premarket trading and rising 11.55% to $2.80 in after-hours trading on Tuesday, according to market data.
Enovix did not disclose the total dollar value of the purchase order and declined to identify the drone manufacturer by name.
