Meta Platforms, Inc. (NASDAQ: META) has drawn renewed investor attention after Suncoast Equity Management highlighted the stock as a leading contributor in its Q3 2026 investor letter.
Suncoast Equity Management, an SEC-registered Investment Advisory firm, released the letter covering its U.S. Equity Large Cap Select Growth Strategy, which advanced 4.2% after fees in Q3, compared to 2.3% for the S&P 500.
The outperformance marks what the firm describes as a potential shift in market leadership, coming after a period in which the strategy lagged the broader index over the four quarters ending June 30, 2026.
Select Growth has risen 14.5% after fees since March, with the firm suggesting this represents a promising investment opportunity provided severe macro conditions do not materialize.
Meta closed at $721.31 per share on October 7, 2026, carrying a market capitalization of $1.84 trillion and posting a 9.51% year-to-date gain within a 52-week range of $520.26 to $779.82.
Suncoast’s letter acknowledged ongoing investor skepticism around Meta’s heavy artificial intelligence capital expenditure, noting that questions persist over whether that spending will generate adequate returns.
However, the firm pointed to new AI-enabled products and monetization opportunities as evidence that sentiment and potential economics can shift rapidly, citing the launch of Muse as a key development.
“Muse has been the most downloaded app on Apple and Android devices since its introduction in September and early user reviews are favorable,” Suncoast wrote in the letter, adding that the app helped remind the market of Meta’s underlying strength.
The firm further noted that “Meta remains a powerful global advertising platform growing earnings at an expected 35% in 2026 yet trading at a Price to Earnings ratio below the market,” framing the valuation as disconnected from its fundamentals.
Suncoast described Meta’s sharp stock recovery during the quarter as “an example of what can happen when a company’s stock price and fundamentals get overly disconnected,” suggesting the selloff had been overdone.
Meta shares returned 14.6% over the last six months, underperforming the Insider Monkey Billionaire 30 Index’s 33.9% gain and the S&P 500 ETF’s 18.2% gain over the same period.
Despite that relative underperformance, Meta holds the fifth position on the list of 40 Most Popular Stocks Among Hedge Funds heading into 2026, reflecting sustained institutional confidence in the company.
According to available data, 254 hedge fund portfolios held Meta at the end of the second quarter of 2026, a slight decline from 262 in the prior quarter, suggesting some trimming at the margins.
Separately, analyst Dan Niles has suggested Meta could further monetize its massive AI spending by launching a public cloud business to compete directly with Amazon, Microsoft, and Google, potentially opening an entirely new revenue vertical for the company.
