Super Micro Computer (NASDAQ: SMCI) jumped 12.1% after the company revealed a record AI-focused order backlog that is reshaping expectations for its near-term growth trajectory.

The company reported over $60 billion in new fourth-quarter orders, a figure that signals extraordinary demand for AI infrastructure products across major data center customers.

To accommodate that demand, Super Micro has begun expanding its global manufacturing capacity to produce more than 6,000 racks per month, a significant operational escalation.

AI-related solutions have already become the dominant revenue driver for the business, contributing the majority of recent quarterly revenue with further concentration expected ahead.

Based on the existing backlog, AI is projected to account for more than 80% of secured orders going forward, tying the company’s near-term outcomes tightly to data center spending trends.

Super Micro’s fiscal 2027 sales guidance of $65.0 billion to $72.0 billion reflects that AI-centric trajectory and sets a high bar for execution on integrated rack-scale solutions.

Analyst projections extend that growth curve further, with Super Micro’s narrative forecasting $91.7 billion in revenue and $3.4 billion in earnings by 2029, requiring 32.9% annual revenue growth.

That would represent roughly a $1.2 billion increase in earnings from the current base of approximately $2.2 billion, a target that depends heavily on sustained hyperscaler purchasing and flawless supply chain execution.

Even the most pessimistic analysts expected revenue to reach approximately $80.2 billion and earnings of $2.9 billion by 2029, though they flagged export controls and excess inventory as risks capable of undermining the AI order story.

Customer concentration remains a central concern for investors, as prolonged purchasing cycles among large hyperscaler buyers could create order lumpiness that disrupts shipment timelines and margin performance.

The company’s fair value has been pegged at $41.75 based on current forecasts, though some estimates suggest the stock could be worth as much as 46% more than its present price.

For now, the combination of record backlog size, expanded manufacturing ambition, and firm fiscal guidance has given investors fresh reason to price in a more aggressive growth scenario for Super Micro.
