Netflix (NASDAQ: NFLX) shares rallied sharply on Monday, defying a broader market pullback, after a bullish analyst note renewed investor confidence in the streaming giant’s growth trajectory.
Evercore ISI analyst Kutgun Maral maintained his outperform rating on the stock and raised his price target to $110, implying potential upside of 42% from Friday’s closing price.
The upgrade in target came alongside fresh consumer survey data that Maral conducted, revealing a notable expansion in Netflix’s household reach across two key markets.
Netflix’s market penetration climbed to 63% in the United States and 22% in Japan, with the survey also uncovering greater intent among existing customers to maintain their subscriptions going forward.
The results from Japan were particularly striking, with sports and live programming emerging as the primary engines driving subscriber growth in that market.
Some 45% of recent new subscriptions in Japan were directly tied to Netflix’s World Baseball Classic promotion, underscoring the platform’s growing leverage over live sporting events.
Live programming engagement more broadly is accelerating, with 60% of Japanese users watching live content in September, a significant jump from just 42% recorded back in March.
Netflix Clips, the company’s short-form video offering designed to compete in the fast-growing vertical video space, is also gaining measurable traction among users on both sides of the Pacific.
Some 38% of U.S. respondents and 46% of Japanese respondents reported actively using the Netflix Clips feature, suggesting the product is successfully reaching its intended demographic.
Netflix’s advance on the day was entirely company-specific, coming against a notable headwind from the broader market, with the Nasdaq Composite down 0.7% and the S&P 500 off 0.5%.
The stock’s 52-week range of $65.08 to $124.86 highlights that meaningful ground remains to be recovered before the shares reclaim their prior highs, even after Monday’s rally.
Netflix’s most recent quarterly results continue to provide a solid fundamental foundation, with the company reporting revenue of $12.56 billion and net income of $3.40 billion in the second quarter of 2026.
The combination of analyst conviction, improving penetration data, and accelerating live content engagement gives investors a multi-layered case for continued momentum in the months ahead.
