Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) posted blowout fiscal second-quarter results, but the detail drawing significant attention is the company’s rapidly expanding relationship with SpaceX (NYSE: SPCX).
Nvidia reported quarterly revenue of $96.2 billion, up 106% year over year, with Data Center sales reaching $89.0 billion, a 117% increase from the same period last year.
CFO Colette Kress told analysts that Nvidia’s next-generation Vera CPU is already shipping to its earliest customers, with SpaceX’s AI unit among the very first recipients.
“We expect Vera to be deployed by every major hyperscaler, neocloud, AI lab, and system OEM, with shipments already underway to our lead partners, including Oracle, SpaceXAI, and starting this quarter, Amazon Web Services,” Kress said during the earnings conference call.
Nvidia does not break out customer-level revenue figures, meaning SpaceX’s precise financial contribution to Nvidia’s results relies on third-party estimates rather than disclosed data.
Deepwater Asset Management’s Gene Munster offered a detailed breakdown of SpaceX’s estimated share in a post on X, shedding light on the scale of the relationship.
“$SPCX accounted for about 5% of overall revenue. Last quarter, it was more like 3%. Looks like they moved $SPCX revenue from ACIE into Hyperscalers, which makes sense because SPCX is now a hyperscaler with 8GW coming online next year, same as $META and $AMZN,” Munster wrote.
Applied to Nvidia’s $96.2 billion in quarterly revenue, Munster’s estimate implies nearly $5 billion tied directly to SpaceX spending in the quarter alone.
SpaceX being grouped alongside Meta and Amazon as a hyperscaler peer signals how dramatically the company’s compute ambitions have grown, cementing its place at the top tier of Nvidia’s customer base.
Alongside the earnings release, Nvidia highlighted that SpaceXAI would adopt the Vera CPU to run the agentic workloads behind Grok, xAI’s chatbot, handling code execution and large-scale data processing.
“Vera gives us the CPU performance and memory bandwidth to run enormous amounts of orchestration, code, and data processing while keeping GPUs doing what they do best,” said SpaceX and xAI president Mike Nicolls.
The two companies also confirmed that a space-optimized Vera Rubin NVL72 rack-scale system is set for launch aboard SpaceX’s first-generation Starmind satellite in the fourth quarter of 2027, with a larger-scale system planned for 2028.
The AI1 satellite design carries a 120-kilowatt compute payload, capable of peaking at 150 kilowatts, underscoring the extraordinary technical ambition behind the collaboration.
For Nvidia, SpaceX is simultaneously a top-tier terrestrial customer and the launch vehicle for placing its data center chips into orbital infrastructure, creating a uniquely interdependent commercial relationship.
For SpaceX, Nvidia’s technology is rapidly becoming the foundational compute and AI backbone underpinning its expanding ambitions both on the ground and in space.
