Oracle Corporation (NYSE: ORCL) has been named the Founding Partner of IMSA Labs, a new innovation platform created by the International Motor Sports Association to connect startups with live racing environments.

The centerpiece of the partnership is the Oracle Cloud Innovation Studio, the first program launched under the IMSA Labs umbrella, built on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

The studio is designed to give startups access to live race operations, high-volume telemetry, and race-generated data, allowing them to validate solutions against real-world operational conditions.

IMSA President John Doonan described the initiative as a natural extension of motorsport’s long history as a testing ground for technologies that eventually reach consumers.

“Motorsport has always been a laboratory for innovation, and IMSA has long been where manufacturers prove technologies that ultimately reach consumers,” Doonan said.

He added that IMSA Labs is designed to create a broader ecosystem where startups, technology leaders, manufacturers, and research institutions can develop next-generation solutions together.

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Senior Vice President Karan Batta said the live racing environment gives startups a critical advantage over traditional accelerators or sandbox environments.

“Innovation happens faster when startups can build against real-world complexity instead of simulated conditions,” Batta said.

IMSA draws participation from 18 global automotive manufacturers and generates millions of telemetry events across each race weekend, creating a demanding and data-rich operational environment.

Startups accepted into the Oracle Cloud Innovation Studio will develop and test solutions across several technology areas, including adaptive data routing, cloud-native telemetry ingestion, and real-time decision engines.

The program also targets AI-assisted operational insights, which involve detecting patterns, surfacing anomalies, and recommending next-best actions across live race operations.

Fan-facing live telemetry experiences are another focus area, with startups encouraged to build interactive digital products that bring audiences closer to real-time race data.

Oracle and IMSA both emphasize that the technology patterns validated in a motorsport setting translate directly to other industries where speed and resiliency are critical requirements.

Sectors identified as potential beneficiaries include manufacturing, transportation, logistics, energy, telecommunications, and smart venues, all of which share operational demands similar to professional endurance racing.

The Oracle Cloud Innovation Studio will operate directly from the IMSA paddock, giving participating startups physical access to the live race environment as a development and demonstration platform.
