Walmart Inc. (NASDAQ: WMT) announced a $10.8 million philanthropic investment in Matthew 25: Ministries to significantly expand its national disaster response fleet across the United States.

The investment, announced on June 3, was made in collaboration with Procter & Gamble (NYSE: PG), combining infrastructure funding with product donations to accelerate disaster relief capabilities nationwide.

A central goal of the initiative is to position relief vehicles within an 8-hour drive of 90% of the mainland United States, ensuring rapid deployment during emergencies.

The expansion will introduce seven new laundry and multi-service shower trailers, alongside tow vehicles and generators, strategically staged across eight regional hubs throughout the country.

By June 2027, the expanded fleet is expected to support 48 annual activations, delivering critical services to communities in the critical 24 to 36 hours following a disaster.

Services provided through the fleet will include hot showers, clean laundry, and essential personal care products sourced from P&G brands including Bounty, Crest, and Pampers.

The grant builds on a long-standing partnership between Walmart, P&G, and Matthew 25: Ministries, reinforcing a relief model that has already delivered vital services to disaster-affected communities.

Walmart’s infrastructure funding is paired with P&G’s product supply donations and co-funding contributions, creating a combined approach designed to bridge the gap between immediate crisis response and longer-term recovery.

The collaboration places particular emphasis on reaching families in hard-to-reach areas, where emotional resilience and access to essential care products can be scarce in the aftermath of a disaster.

Walmart operates as a large-scale omnichannel retailer with a broad network of retail and wholesale stores, clubs, e-commerce platforms, and mobile applications serving millions of customers across multiple categories.

The investment reflects a growing trend among major corporations to integrate large-scale philanthropic commitments into their broader community and social responsibility strategies.

With the expanded fleet operational, Matthew 25: Ministries will be better positioned to respond rapidly and consistently to natural disasters, offering meaningful support during some of the most vulnerable hours communities face.
