Lockheed Martin Corporation (NYSE: LMT) has delivered the first Integrated Combat System-enabled baseline to the U.S. Navy, marking a significant milestone for the defense contractor.
The delivery took place on May 28, 2026, with the systems combining legacy combat capabilities with a modern, cloud-like infrastructure designed to modernize naval operations.
Lockheed Martin has entered a six-month operating cadence with the U.S. Navy for fleet-wide software updates and certifications, establishing a consistent release cycle for the program.
The company says this regular update schedule is intended to maintain the ICS’s adaptability and keep it refreshed with cutting-edge capabilities, preserving the readiness of the naval surface fleet.
Chandra Marshall, VP of Multi-Domain Combat Systems at Lockheed Martin, stated that each baseline upgrade helps expand the company’s Aegis air and missile defense capabilities.
Prior to the delivery, on May 21, 2026, Lockheed Martin broke ground on a new 87,000-square-foot Munitions Production Center in Troy, Alabama, broadening its domestic manufacturing footprint.
The facility is designed to expand production capacity for THAAD interceptors and future Next Generation Interceptor systems, addressing growing demand for advanced missile defense solutions.
The Troy site forms part of a $9 billion investment through 2030 and will nearly double the company’s current production space while creating a significant number of local jobs in the region.
Founded in 1995 and headquartered in Maryland, Lockheed Martin is recognized as the world’s largest defense contractor, operating across defense technology, advanced electronics, and space exploration infrastructure.
The company has also raised its annual dividend for twenty-three consecutive years, underscoring its standing as one of the more reliable dividend-paying stocks in the defense sector.
