One of the internet’s most enduring conspiracy theories has been addressed by a member of the Trump family, after viral claims that Barron Trump is a time traveller continued to gain traction on social media.

The theory has been fuelled in part by a series of 19th century novels written by Ingersoll Lockwood, which feature a fictional character named Baron Trump. The books resurfaced during Donald Trump’s first presidency and have since become a central pillar of the conspiracy, with videos dissecting the supposed connection racking up significant views online.

Barron Trump, who turned 20 in March, has largely kept a low profile despite his high profile family. He has become better known in recent years for his remarkable height, reported to be somewhere between 6ft 7 and 6ft 9, making him noticeably taller than his father Donald, who stands at 6ft 3, and his mother Melania at 5ft 11.

It was Lara Trump who finally decided to address the theory head on. Speaking on her Right View show on Fox News, Eric Trump’s wife said she was stunned by the volume of engagement these videos were generating online.

She then moved to shut the theory down entirely. “I’m not trying to ruin anybody or rain on any parades here,” she said. “Barron Trump is not a time traveller. Sorry to say it. I’m sorry, I broke a lot of people’s hearts today.”

Lara went further, questioning the logic behind the theory altogether. “Name me anybody who actually can say that that’s a real thing? It doesn’t exist, but people have gotten so far off the rails on this Barron being a time traveller thing. I don’t know what to tell you. I think it’s crazy. I’ve known Barron for 18 years, okay, he’s not a time traveller.”

She rounded off her response by reflecting on why these kinds of theories tend to gain momentum in the first place. “I’ve seen him grow up, it’s crazy stuff, but I think people love to grab on to conspiracies or things that are very far fetched like that,” she added.

Away from the conspiracy theories, Barron has reportedly been making moves in the business world. He is said to have become a partner in a new beverage company that is preparing to launch a yerba mate drink, with the product expected to arrive later in 2026. He is listed as one of five figures involved in the venture, which has already secured financial backing and drawn attention online, suggesting the youngest Trump may be eyeing a career in business rather than politics or, for that matter, time travel.
