Russia’s President Vladimir Putin is trying to save the world from war. We should all help him.
On June 24, Putin’s presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov reported that President Putin has asked the Russian legislature to repeal the authorization to use force that was granted in order to protect residents of former Russian territories that are currently part of Ukraine from the rabid Russophobic violence that characterizes Washington’s stooge government in Kiev.
Washington’s neoconservatives are jubilant. They regard Putin’s diplomacy as a sign of weakness and fear, and urge stronger steps that will force Russia to give back Crimea and the Black Sea naval base.
Inside Russia, Washington is encouraging its NGO fifth columns to undercut Putin’s support with propaganda that Putin is afraid to stand up for Russians and has sold out Ukraine’s Russian population. If this propaganda gains traction, Putin will be distracted by street protests. The appearance of Putin’s domestic weakness would embolden Washington. Many members of Russia’s young professional class are swayed by Washington’s propaganda. Essentially, these Russians, brainwashed by US propaganda, are aligned with Washington, not with the Kremlin.
Putin has placed his future and that of his country on a bet that Russian diplomacy can prevail over Washington’s bribes, threats, blackmail, and coercion. Putin is appealing to Western Europeans. Putin is saying, “I am not the problem. Russia is not the problem. We are reasonable. We are ignoring Washington’s provocations. We want to work things out and to find a peaceful solution.”
Washington is saying: “Russia is a threat. Putin is the new Hitler. Russia is the enemy. NATO and the US must begin a military buildup against the Russian threat, rush troops and jet fighters to Eastern European NATO bases on Russia’s frontier. G-8 meetings must be held without Russia. Economic sanctions must be put on Russia regardless of the damage the sanctions do to Europe.” And so forth.
Putin says: “I’m here for you. Let’s work this out.”
Washington says: “Russia is the enemy.”
Putin knows that the UK is a complete vassal puppet state, that Cameron is just as bought-and-paid-for as Blair before him. Putin’s hope for diplomacy over force rests on Germany and France. Both countries face Europe’s budget and employment woes, and both countries have significant economic relations with Russia. German business interests are a counterweight to the weak Merkel government’s subservience to Washington. Washington has stupidly angered the French by trying to steal $10 billion from France’s largest bank. This theft, if successful, will destroy France’s largest bank and deliver France to Wall Street.
If desire for national sovereignty still exists in the German or French governments, one or both could give the finger to Washington and publicly declare that they are unwilling for their country to be drawn into conflict with Russia for the sake of Washington’s Empire and the financial hegemony of American banks.
Putin is betting on this outcome. If his bet is a bad one and Europe fails not only Russia but itself and the rest of the world by accommodating Washington’s drive for world hegemony, Russia and China will have to submit to Washington’s hegemony or be prepared for war.
As neither side can afford to lose the war, the war would be nuclear. As scientists have made clear, life on earth would cease, regardless of whether Washington’s ABM shield works.
This is why I oppose Washington’s policies and speak out against the arrogance and hubris that define Washington today. The most likely outcome of Washington’s pursuit of world hegemony is the extinction of life on earth.
Putin has more weapons than diplomacy with Germans (industry and finance) not just Angela, and France (who loves wars). Putin has his own economic weapons of gas and oil, his close relationship with China and Xi, who desire stability and development and investments in regions all over the world. Putin also has India, and Pakistan comes along with China.
NATO may pick a war but Putin and China can pick apart American allies.
It was made clear that nuclear for Putin is not his ICBMs alone. He has and will use tactical nukes.
Now what NATO nation wants to be the first to taste those? You think Poland would like a taste? Or Lithuania? Or maybe the Brits? Or Norway? Little Rasmussen’s Denmark?
So, war? Nuclear war?
I think the war games and modeling shows that the US and Europe will look quite different with just a few tactical nukes landing on a few key spots.
Medvedev might have been the leader to play this game with.
Putin has rehearsed his tactical response to a war. He spent the spring and early summer training up his biggest army units. He showed tactical nukes would be used if battalion-sized battles were going badly. IN other words, Nato will be eating nukes for lunch if the mess with Putin.
There won’t be any war with Russia. There won’t even be shadow boxing.
Putin is a 5th belt Judo athlete. He specializes in taking down opponents using their own moves.
The USA military is risk adverse. They are tough with Libya and Mali. Russia is no third world, forty-year old equipped opponent like Tripoli was.
He has shown he can blunt the Ukraine proxy army by supplying some experts and a few ManPads. Who is next to be thrown at Russia?
Actually, the US would do better versus China than Russia. The Chinese haven’t won a war in hundreds of years. The Russians defeated the Germans. And the Russians have ten times as many nukes as China.
If the US is spoiling for a triumph, they ought to model the outcome, and war game a war with China. Of course, they will have to stand off about 1100 miles to strike them because China can sink our carriers with missiles only they have.
It’s apparently a big dilemma for the hegemon to find an opponent of importance to defeat in war.
Maybe, we can find a reason to strike India or Indonesia or just go for it against Iran? I guess not.
Sorry. Cancel the war thing. De-Stabilization is the next order of chaos down the chain of Hegemony. How’s that sanctions thing working? Cuba is still Castro dominated since 1959. Iran since 1979 and getting stronger. How long will it take to knock over Moscow?
” Russia’s President Vladimir Putin is trying to save the world from war. We should all help him. ”
just as Hitler was trying to save the world from war
Um, no, not like that at all.
the essay is an addlepated pile of piffle. Putin is a tin pot strongarming KGB weasel and exploitation artist, not anything more.
and ferdamsure not an apostle of peace or justice
Never mind how Putin intervened to prevent the US from bombing Syria, or his repeated efforts to deescalate the situation in Ukraine, as outlined by Dr. Roberts.
how does arming and supporting the Syrian dictatorship, which has killed many thousands of unarmed Syrian citizens and which is vigorously prosecuting a war, a peace effort, buddy?
and the “situation” in the Ukraine, with Putin’s military occupation of the Crimea ain’t zackly an advancement of peace.
Roberts is devoid of any logic or larger consideration and he’s as bereft of truth as the people who claimed that Hitler’s occupation of Czechoslovakia was lovely and peaceful.
you can do better than this. why publish such shoddy guff?
I didn’t say Russia arming the Syrian regime is a peace effort and have no interest in debating strawman arguments.
As for Crimea, I’ll remind you that Russian forces were there as per agreement with the Ukranian government (you know, like how US forces remain occupying German soil). And the Crimeans, who are largely an ethnically Russian population, voted in a referendum to accede to Russia.
maybe you should read a little history Jeremy and learn that the present inhabitants are ethnic Russians only because Stalin ethnically cleansed the area just before, during and immediately after WWII.
that might explain the two-bit referendum, buddy.
you think that you would support a similar referendum where the people in a West Bank settlement bloc voted for annexation to Israel….or are you being sorta hypocritical here?
What happened in 1944 does not change the fact that the people of present-day Crimea held a referendum expressing their desire to accede to Russia.
And if the Palestinian people in the West Bank held a referendum to accede to Israel, of course I would support their wish. It is not up for me to determine how they exercise their right to self-determination, you clown, so spare me your laughable charge of hypocrisy.
sorry sonny, but the referendum in Crimea was akin to a referendum by the settlers.
you continue to avoid truth and logic and it’s not any wonder that you can’t even raise $660.
why not publish less loony authors and upgrade the site?
even you can do better than this. hang in there and try harder.
Its true! Crimean citizens voted entirely voluntary. Already more than one million people in the Crimea voluntarily received Russian citizenship. Crimea the 23 years remained Russian.
George H. Bush was the director of the CIA in the eighties, how do you feel about that?
It really seems to be true. Putin now keeps quiet. It does not help military from South East of Ukraine, as this may lead to a more serious military conflict. He is a great strategist. Russians have a joke: If Putin is silent, it’s time to ask him for forgiveness. Ultimately, he still wins.
