After the optimism from recent progress in cold fusion, as demonstrated in Italy, Nature surprised us with a severe cold winter in some parts of the world. However, we should not blame climate change for the human suffering when the solution to the problem is in the hands of our civilization.
The expectation that the 21st century will bring improved welfare for humanity seems to be an illusion. We are experiencing global crises in different areas such as economics, politics, ideology, natural resources, and the environment. Is there a fundamental reason for the crises and, if yes, what could be the solution? One serious problem today is the mismanagement of our resources—natural, economic, and scientific. The shortsighted view of policy makers is correlated with stagnation in contemporary science. While the science of today is highly dependent on government funding, irresponsible decision makers have made it a servant of dominant groups with common interests. As a result, not only the media and policy makers but also many honest scientists are misinformed. To be more specific, the blame is on the scientific establishments with their bureaucratic style of management. How has this happened?
Today, government institutions that fund science consist of hierarchical bureaucracies whose main function is funds management. The bureaucracy is naturally against changes that challenge the status quo. Some scientific groups with common interests have successfully infiltrated the bureaucracy by putting their sympathizers in key positions. In order to ensure that they receive the lion’s share of government funds, they created defensive barriers. This was done by occupying editorial positions of peer review journals, and by controlling government sponsored conferences and the distribution of the research funds. In that way, the favored common-interest groups have enough government funds for research, conferences, international collaboration and advertisements of their work in the popular journals and media. Some of these journals claim to influence the direction of contemporary science. This has a strong impact on politicians, policy makers and investors. The international influence of the favored interest groups allowed them to appropriate the name “mainstream science”. They impose the opinion that scientific achievement or discovery is impossible outside of their perimeter of expertise. Furthermore, published research on any fundamental issue is expected to comply with officially established concepts. This is the major reason for the apparent lack of new discoveries in the past few decades, especially if they are of a fundamental nature. On the one hand, new concepts could not be envisioned by management at the top and, on the other hand, any challenging idea, theory or discovery coming from outside of the established groups was heavily suppressed.
The emerging field of cold fusion is a typical example of suppression imposed by some well-funded scientific groups that are involved with research on hot fusion. After Fleischmann and Pons announced a successful cold fusion experiment in 1989, interest in this field, later called Low Energy Nuclear Reaction (LENR), continued to grow despite the lack of government support due to severe denial by mainstream science. Finally, the year 2011 marked significant progress by the Focardi-Rossi method of Ni + Hi LENR implemented in the E-cat reactor. It is important to note that the E-cat technology does not create hazardous radioactive waste. Further, it cannot be weaponized and cannot cause nuclear catastrophes such as Chernobyl and Fukushima. While the experimental evidence for cold fusion can no longer be denied, the last card of its opponents is now the lack of a physical theory. Yet, theories exist that challenge the current understanding of nuclear reactions, some of them having been around for decades. However, they have not been allowed to appear in peer review journals controlled by the favored interest groups, so the policy makers controlling funding from government and investors are misinformed.
In 2004, the censorship barrier was further elevated with a rule change for publishing in the moderated physical archive, arxive.org. The archive initially allowed rapid announcement of new achievements, while the peer review process could take years. With the new rule of endorsement, even a new discovery could not be published if the author was not supported by an endorser. An endorser could lose his or her own right to post if an article were supported that challenges the status quo. For scientists searching for the unbiased truth, the only option left was to post on some other on-line archive. One of these archives, vixra.org, gained popularity despite not being officially recognized by mainstream science. The favored scientific groups carefully avoid mentioning some of the challenging scientific theories, even if their authors are able to publish in some peer-reviewed journals. This attitude of mainstream science is nothing less than a sign of stagnation. A typical example is the way the BSM – Supergravitation Unified Theory was ignored. This theory was first published in 2001, followed by multiple reports in scientific conferences and some peer review journals outside the scope of mainstream science.
The author of this article worked for 35 years in scientific institutions in different countries. From his own experience, he knows how easy it is to publish in the peer review journals of mainstream science if complying with the status quo, and how difficult or impossible it is to publish some challenging theoretical work with experimental evidence or even a challenging experiment. In the mass media, the tactic of the favored common-interest groups is debunking by misinformation. Therefore, the only option for those who do not want to be misled is to make a little more effort to determine the truth. In that respect, the advice of the author of this article is to read the paper about cold fusion posted in the physical archive.
Summarizing, the denial of cold fusion is just one example. Today our civilization is experiencing a crisis that is not only environmental, but also economic, political, and scientific. The only solution to such problems is a new technological breakthrough that must come via a breakthrough in physics. Accumulated evidence for such a breakthrough already exists. It will open the opportunity for expanding our presence to other planets or satellites of the solar system. This will be possible only by defying the status quo, and it depends on our will to do so.
Bingo. Should be required reading in every Freshman Studies seminar in the world.
I don’t think people understand that free energy and 3D race to the bottom printing means work in the sense of slavery work is over. The implications are much wider. There’s no need for brands when even beauty becomes a variant of utility.
Yes you are correct. Nobody understands you.
Charles is right. A world where robots do most of the work using renewable energy changes the nature of labor and requires new rules. Today’s chronic unemployment in the industrial economies where the percent of those working in manufacturing declines year after year there has to be some way to maintain a consumer base for the large quantity of goods produced by automation.
Two comments? Just two comments? Is anybody out there? This is so sad, it feels like a visit to the graveyard of the human race.
It is well known issue typical for ANY institutional organisations. Not sure why it should be a revelation for anybody… Any structure exists as soon as it is able to mountain its status-quo otherwise it ceases to exist. The evolution is the way how structures get into existence and then extinct or evolve into another structure what is just a more appealing description of “extinction”….
Fleischmann and Pons were mistreated, to see them vindicated scientifically would be a grand thing, to see the suppressors of their work brought to account would be, only just and fair, better than they deserve.
Thank you so much for this article .Its so annoying listening to the trolls endlessly sniping at any challenging ideas
Yep. The level of cynicism is pretty striking, isn’t it, human? Some of these trolls couldn’t think their own way out of a can of classic coca-cola. Energy generation and consumption is the most antiquated sector of our economy not because there aren’t solutions, but because the energy industry (while loudly proclaiming otherwise) has put less investment into R&D than any other sector. Things have been just fine for the masters of this economy just way they have been, oil wars and all. Obama may be saying that oil is the fuel of the past, but they sure aren’t.
The article gives me hope. With the problem so clearly laid out in a mainstream publication, And Foreign Policy seems to fit that bill, maybe we have a chance to see a movement for change in this area of scientific publication. But more probably, what we will see is that the outside-the-mainstream online journals will gain respectability as the places where REAL scientific progress is happening.
Even science can no longer be centralized. With the movement towards a peer-to-peer decentralized society, science will have to follow that same model.
What today is called “the mainstream” will lose relevance in proportion to real energy alternatives being actually developed at the fringes.
When the stuff that works comes from the fringes of science, things are ripe for a change!
Sepp. I could not agree more. Change will come from the outside. And there are going to be a lot of pissed off people when they realize what has been happening and how Technologies have been in existence for quite some time that were not pursued for the sake of protecting the status quo. LENR researchers have been forced to work on shoestring budgets with little support and attempts by so called journalists to assassinate the character of those with the most promising results. I can only imagine where there paychecks come from. Hopefully some day all will be exposed.

Dr. Sarg,
Thank you for your excellent article.
Please read our breakthrough results in Zero Point Energy/Fusion:

PLEASE please. for the sake of the generations to come ,we need this new or already known science yo be put into practice as soon as possible.
TO ALL YOU JOURNALISTS you are the people who can force this issue into the open. now really is the time to start, you will have the backing of all of us, and bless you for being brave.
The academic blackout and dirty-tricks attacks on Cold Fusion research and researchers should be no surprise, given how American science has expressed full intolerance and repression of ANY idea which challenges a long list of “sacred cows”. Hot Fusion is one of them, given billions every year since the 1970s, but not producing even one kilowatt of output! It will go down in history similar to the Pyramids of Egypt, in its useless extravagance. Dare to criticze that, or the Big Bang theory, or Einstein’s relativity, and you will never get an job in physics or astronomy, much less graduate with an advanced degree, no matter how brilliant you are otherwise. In medicine it is even worse! Pioneering physicians are regularly kicked in the teeth, even arrested and imprisoned for going against the “wisdom” of the pharmacutical-controlled medical licensing boards and FDA. The FDA even burns books of scientists who offer anything too radical, no matter what the high level of evidence might be (ergo, the burning of Wilhelm Reich’s books, and his death in prison, and the current FDA fascism of sending SWAT police out to smash down sellers of fresh milk! Dare to criticze the CO2 theory of global warming, well then you are a neo-Nazi Holocaust denier! Dare to criticze the HIV theory of AIDS, well you should be put into prison for putting people’s lives in danger. Just forget the current global cooling, and that millions have died needlessly and prematurely from the fraudulent HIV paradigm. And don’t be surprised when hospitals will no longer ASK parents if they want to circumcise their child, because the new fraud from the CDC will demand it be done, eventually to girls as well, merely because we have no more good science, and no more tolerance for opposing ideas. Intolerance! Censorship! Dictatorship! It is worse in the sciences than in politics, in fact, though truth be told this kind of situation has come on the watch of both the conservatives and the liberals, each of whom has “big talk” about Constitutional protections, freedom of speech, and academic freedom-of-inquiry. Cold Fusion should have got big funding from the very first week of the announcement by Pons and Fleishman. Instead, the unethical academic forces protecting of Hot Fusion went after them with sharpened knives. And they have plenty more allies in the mainstream media than any lone heretic, in spite of the historical fact that ONLY the lone heretics make significant new discoveries. Collectivism and group-think is a barrier to innovation and serious new discovery, and that is what we have today! Burn the Heretics!
James I agree except about the pyramid stuff. The pyramids are by no means, in contrast to the modern idol of hot fusion, are hardly recognizable exemplars of “useless extravagance.” Learn something about them. You might be surprised. The idea that they were primarily or even at all “tombs” is by now ridiculous. They had a very high scientific purpose that we are only in recent decades starting to rediscover.
Cheap energy, cheap robotics, cheap AI, cheap computing, cheap networking, cheap nanotech, cheap biotech, and so on — they all have the potential to reshape our physical and social world, but our social systems are have trouble adapting to them. As I wrote to Rossi over a year ago, we need to shift from scarcity thinking to abundance thinking (others have said that before, from Albert Einstein to Martin Luther King). I reposted the note I sent him here:
http://peswiki.com/index.php/OS:Economic_Transformation
Google also on “Disciplined Minds” for a book agreeing with many of the points in Dr. Sarg’s article.
As is known,an electrical generator while delivering load creates armature reaction that produces a counter torque against the primemover. Due to this counter torque, added with the losses towards windage and friction, the efficiency of the generator is always less than 100 percent. A new system to reduce the armature reaction has been discovered, paving the way for overunity efficiency generation.
On the question as to the source of the extra energy, it comes from the interaction of the electrons consntituting the electric load current and the electrostatic fields of the atoms of the conductors. These atoms and the electrons, despite realeasing energy in the load circuit, retain their strucrure , violating the law of conservation of energy in its current form.

Cold fusion is a real process that will produce extra heat. Explanation to this is possible by revising some of the current concepts on the nature of electric current and formation of the basic particles and the atoms of matter. For instance, co-linear elements of electric current are attractive, not repulsive as revealed in writer’s Space Vortex Theory (SVT) and also concluded by the late Dr. S. Marinov. In electrolytic cell with Palladium anode, the electrons of the current passed through the cell from external source, will be forcefully attracted by the positive anode of palladium which has no orbital electrons in the fifth orbit. The stream of the electrons in the current may find places in the palladium atoms lattice and get trapped for a short while for further reaction among them as explained below, while causing transient reduction in the current. In other words, cold fusion experiments should not show constant magnitude of the current. There should be disruption of the current off and on.
Like what Lord Kelvin believed, ether (fluid Space) is an incompressible and continuous fluid, to which additional property of mass-less is added in SVT. The electron is a limiting space vortex with highest energy field of 10 31 cm / s2 pointing inward to electron center structures the electron. The electrons with opposite spin are positrons. Some of these particles, trapped for a transient time, are crushed together causing annihilation and producing gamma pulse – the first source of additional heat in the cell. So, for cold fusion, gamma pulses are must.
Formation of neutrons from assembly of the electrons and positrons are shown in SVT. The next product in cold fusion should be neutrons. The neutrons, when enclosed within a space vortex in the highly dynamic circulating space in the lattice, where electrons are trapped, turn into a highly stable proton. Further, penetration of the neutrons within the protons, form deuterium, tritium and helium atoms (Discovering Universal Reality, http://www.tewari.org). So, all these products should appear in Cold fusion experiments.
At star centers, electrons (positrons) are being constantly created. And further formation of atoms follows as above. In cold fusion, electrons are being supplied by the current from the external source and the formation of the products takes place as explained above. Paramahamsa Tewari
Correction please:in my above comments,in the electron structure, the inward energy field is 10 raised to the power thirtyone per sec, per sec.
Dear Professor Tewari–
What a fascinating exposition of a model for the Nuclear Processes of LENR.
Ill tell you the problem, its very simple..
politics, imperfect information, lack of self awareness (ego rule)
how to get rid of this? have representative government, which democracy does not afford.
have an ideological census every 6 years, have a one party system of consensus, have every block vote based on legal requirements, hire the people that do so dont elect them, the natural ‘midpoint’ will be where policy gets written,
so the politics will be seperate from governance, and then you can add to that 30 million dolalrs for each employee if they fullfill their legal requirement, life in prison if they fail.
its called a meritocracy hong kong, singapore have rough models, but the main governmental component is checks and balances and getting politics out of governances, which you get through a one party system of consensus,
the republic is the first design, but then you need what I just described, you can call it a mertiocratic parliamentary republic, but this implies elections, so in truth, you can call it a one party by consensus republic that functionally gets politics out of governance, through naturally people rise by ability and merit.
hence, meritocracy.
Over time, you can also tie this into the banking system…greater resources are given to those with ability….this would increase the standard of living in any country…you can do this through a world bank of sorts….ruled by a constitution and check and balances system as described above.
the ideology is very simple, democracy is rule by majority, and this inevirtable leads to rule by man, obviously having everything majority rule would only lead to chaos, as absolute majority rule in all things is the pure manifestation of anarchy…hence, checks and balances are institutued to make sumere that laws are written by an impartial mediator. this was partially, and badly, accomplished with the constitutuon and the three branches, but over time, tthe mechanics and growth of society made the dymaic of government obslete.
we need a 21st century founding father’s sort of constitution.and what i described is the solution…once oyu have people understand it, you must have a dilligent grassroots movement that constantly pressures washington dc to bedome this system..with enough education, i think it would be fairly easy.
Socialism acts on the angst of people, on the ego, free market on the more optimistic side of man (for the vast majority, both can also illicit the ideal and ruthless, for both respectivcely)
one is more faith based, the other more ego based. One is more prosperous, the other less.
freer systems allow for more rosperity, but, monopolistic tendencies of power hierchies and their evolution often have these systems crash, such as, the government, large institutions such as banks (monopolies essentially) and so on.
The solution then is good game design, and less intervention after every of these crashes. With an imparial system, good games could be designed, however, with a system that is biased toward special interests such as unions or banks, it tends to crash. The solutiuon is not to blame ‘capitalism’ but rather the power structures that allowed the failed laws that naturally led to the predictabnle predatory behavior that undermined these systems.
The only way to accomplish this is with the system above.
With thsi sytem I am confident we wont have the problems we ahve today. The human mind when unleashed is icnredibly innovative, every time the cynics have gambled against the ingenuity of man, they have lost. Faith ahs a way of s elf justifying the perceived reality….the steps start falling before oyu…
the more economic growth, the more technology, the more technology, the more horizontal, there is more resource consumption, but at every stage, new technologies come online to replace them or to make things more efficient.
physics in no waysays our civilization is unsustainable. With innovation and economic stability equilibrium would be reached and we would sour to incredible heights. Great hope comes from automation and robotics–the nay sayers say jobs are lost, but they did the same with caddy drivers–fact is, automation doesnt decrease the number of jobs, it simple makes things less expensive.
there are many perils of course, economic conditiosn can worsen, technologies can fail to come onlibne, there could crop failure, there could be a nuclear detonation…
all of these things tend to increase the ego based systems, greather control, which paradoxically, is less prosperous and leads to greater chaos, justying the control.
In the end however…it would be delusional for the powers that be to think that a world of 7 billion people can be controlled, exterminated, or managed….the cat is already out of the bag, with the intenret, you have a whole generation of individuals who are self reliant, individualistic, and despise being told what to do by people who quite frankly, they view as their inferior.
the only way forward is a freer system….you CANNOT manage 7 billion people in a world with the internet…even with a nuclear detonation…technology is not strict enough to contain the nimble mind…just take one good look at hackers….
we either reform government, take politics out of governance, or at least dont go majority rule, or the human race will go extinct..
technologically and in the MIND of man…nothing can stop it…a free market with game design (rules, regulation) that is not based on special interest lobbying–but if you turn to the negative emotions tied to the ego, it is an immediate doom.
it is a delusion to think that in today;s age you can manage mankind, to think this is possible will certainly lead to the darkest polcie state in human history, breifly, followed by an anarchic state that will only lead to the end of human civilization.
some may say technology and automation can decrease the number of jobs, but this is temporary because long term, technology just makes things less expensive, and shifts jobs to another sector of the economy.
i think its clear that economic progress and human desire would not cease if cars lets say, were fabricated in a robotic assembly….the expense jsut shifts somewhere else…
\by the time this would be a problem, you would have a society where housing is a fraction of the current cost due to robotics, so i dont see the problem. I think thats just very zero sum thinking, largely promoted by the left.
any person who knows an ounce of economics knows that greater trade increases benefit for all parties involved and greater innovation just pushes the ‘possibilities frontier’ outward—IT may decrease jobs in the short run but long term it only icnreases standard of living.
Again…greater ocntrol will not solve these problems…
todays world is far too complex, and intricate, frankly, to be solved by the auspices of some half witted think tank in washington dc.
if robotics gets rid of 30 million jobs, but the cost of housing goes down by 2/3’rds…sure, its harder to make a buck in such a world, but conversely, its easier to get if you do have a buck in such a world.
in the end, i dont think anyone will give a damn…
it will be in the transition period…as wealth is transferred from west to east…that youl; habve problems…political in nature.
Either we get smart about it, or we just delegate politics to old notions–in which case i think we could INDEED have a lot of problems..but it wont be because of lack of innovation, capitalism, religion, it will just be politics and rule of man getting out of control and things spiraling into a pretty dark area.
