Who? Iran executed insurgent group Jundullah leader.
What? Authorities in Tehran hanged minority Baloch leader Abdul Hamid Rigi.
Where? The hanging took place in south eastern Iranian city of Zahedan, the provincial capital of Sistan-Balochistan, a Baloch majority region.
When? The execution took place on Monday morning.
Why? Iranian authorities blame Jundullah, a group fighting for Baloch minority rights, of destabilizing the country by waging a war against the Islamic republic. The Baloch leader was accused by Iran of drug dealing, murders, inciting violence and working for U.S. and al-Qaeda.
How? Jundullah which means Army of God has waged a spate of suicide and road-side bombings, kidnappings and assassinations against the Islamic regime in Tehran to win more rights for the impoverished Baloch minority in south-eastern Iran. The executed leader was captured by Pakistan and extradited to Iran in February this year.

Mr. Baloch. Thank you for your comment on the post. I’d like to know a bit more about your views. Please tell me if the Baloch nation is looking for some political solution of this situation or it relies entirely on organisations like Jundullah and BLA? Please feel free to come up with your opinion. We respect your views and they’re always welcome at FPJ. Our readers would like to know more about the whole issue as well.

Jundullah ıs a Sunnı organısatıon. I know Shıas ınsult our Prophet’s wıfe and hıs ashab. Shıas must stop ınsultıng Sunnı belıefs ın hutbas they must stop muta nıkah. (muta nıkah ıs a temporary marrıage done for a lımıted tıme and ın return for a certaın amount of money … strıctly forbıdden ın Sunnıs, consıdered as fornıcatıon sınce marrıage ıs ıntended to last forever). I do not support Shıa belıef but sınce Amerıcans support Jundullah I cant make up my mınd. Who ıs who, are Iranıan leaders sıncere .. I also know Iran helped Amerıcans overthrow Talıban ın 2002… These conflıctıng acts obscure the truth. Who would unveıl the truth.. I am expectıng an artıcle on thıs subject… Quıte ınterestıng though

Your points are noted here. FPJ will try to come up with an in-depth feature about the complexities of the Balochistan conflict and expose the different angles of the story. Thank you for the suggestion.
Moign Khawaja, of course Baloch leadership always have been searching for a political solution the day Pakistani forces forcefully occupied Balochistan. A prime example is the great democratic Baloch leader Mir Ghouz Baksh Bizenjo, who for six decades tried to convince the Pakistani (Punjabi) rulers. Without giving autonomy to Balochistan, Baloch nation will never rest if Pakistan continues to deprive them. Then every child of Balochistan will take a gun and fight for his and her right; at this is the time; After 62 years still no autonomy for the Baloch nation. Because Pakistan is a non-democratic state; its ruthless army always uses the iron fist against the Baloch nation. Balochistan has a long history of oppression and suppression in the hands of Islamabad and Tehran.
Today every corner of Balochistan, the Baloch nation is fully aware of Pakistan’s 62 years of betrayal, its false dialogue, and phony negotiations with the all Baloch leaders. Let’s not hides the facts. Iran is doing the same for the past 80 years against the Baloch people.
Two years there is a so called democratic government in Islamabad; But still more than 8000 Baloch are missing. In 21 century Iran hangs Baloch people in public without any fair trial.
A state that does not believe in democratic principles and has never shown a will to resolve conflicts with the peaceful means, then what options left for the Baloch nation?
The political struggle and arm struggle are going on inside Balochistan. Today the educated and middle class will never accept both regimes oppression and stealing their rich natural resources at the gun point. Pakistan has yet to learn from its dark history of 1971. Iran has to learn from its neighbour; Sadam’s slaughter of the Kurds.

As a keen observer of Balochistan conflict, I do admit that establishment of both Iran and Pakistan are guilty of marginalising the Baloch nation and depriving the resource-rich region with proper infrastructure. Serious human rights abuses have been committed on either sides of Balochistan without a shadow of doubt.
What I’m concerned about is that violence begets violence. As a pacifist, I believe political activism brings more long lasting solutions than a bloody uprising. However, there is always a limit to patience and history shows us that humans are more inclined to violence than peaceful struggle. I really wish countries in our region try to learn something from history.
