In Israel, the so called ‘only democracy in the Middle East’, a journalist has been held under house arrest since December for leaking a story of Israeli barbarism. In the Jewish Democracy another prominent Journalist had to run for his life for telling the truth about Israel’s murderous policies and its chief war criminals.
The Guardian reported today that Anat Kam, 23, an Israeli journalist “has been under secret house arrest since December on charges that she leaked highly sensitive classified military documents that suggest the Israeli military breached a court order on assassinations in the occupied West Bank.”
Seemingly, in the ‘Jews only democracy’, people are put under house arrest even when they are trying to suggest a breach of the state’s High Court’s orders. (Even kosher citizens).
Anat Kam, 23, goes on trial in two weeks on treason and espionage charges and could face up to 14 years in jail. In the ‘democratic’ Jewish state, a court-imposed gagging order is preventing media coverage of the arrest and charges in Israel. I am left puzzled here as it seems Israelis can be prosecuted for reporting illegal activities.
A Haaretz leading journalist, Uri Blau, who has also been linked to the case, has had to escape Israel. He is now in London, apparently for fear he will be targeted for his reporting.
In November 2008, Blau reported in Haaretz that the IDF had been carrying out assassinations of Palestinian militants in the West Bank in contravention of an Israeli high court ruling, which said efforts should be made first to arrest suspected militants rather than assassinating them.
According to Blau the IDF chief General Gabi Ashkenazi allegedly approved the assassination operations. The Haaretz piece was accompanied by copies of military documents but it was approved by the military censor before publication.
I am here to suggest that if America still insists to ‘democratize the world’, it may have to start with its ‘best ally’. Time may also be ripe for Neocon British Foreign Secretary David Miliband who advocates ‘liberal interventionalism’, to face the fact that the Jewish state, the state that lists him as one of its Propaganda (Hasbara) authors, is no less than a Tyranny inspired by a deep Talmudic intolerance.
Gilad Atzmon is probably one of those left wing publicists, who hate Israel and for that reason will do anything he can to spread his hatred in the ears of anyone who listens.
People who live in Israel know very well that these lies don’t represent the truth. The “Injustice”, is only a self defending democracy. It exists in western world countries such as the US and GB, even more than Israel.
Israel has been struggling for its existence for years, and has to do anything it can to protect its civilian population – this is its moral right and obligation.
Just as the US and GB send troops thousands miles away from their border to protect its own civilian population – Israel does the same, only from its OWN borders.
It seems as “human right” activities always think about the Palestinian rights, but tend to forget Israelis rights to live peacefully. To me, it smells like racism, even if the writer was an Israeli in his past (or still is today).
What evidence do you have for that?
I listen, but I don’t hear the hatred. I hear a principled individual taking a stand against unjust actions by Israel supposedly done in the name Jews worldwide.
I am grateful to the many Jewish authors and activists that have helped put the I/P conflict into contex, including Mr. Atzmont. I started looking more deeply into it for my own sake post 9/11 and realized that I had accepted the official narrative without question.
Mr. Atzmon’s articles and essays are always thought provoking. More times than not he makes a compelling case for his position.
Every country has it’s censorship oftheir military. So what if Israel has assainated a bunch of muslim terrorists, it didn’t want to create an uproar from hating, uneducated authors that cant even get a job in a real newspaper. Seeing as he has lived in Israel I have no idea how he could write negatively about it since it’s a pretty wonderful place.
@ Tal
Let me make your job easy here and explain what you mean by the following:
Bunch of Muslim terrorists: The losers who are fighting for a homeland that ‘G-d’ snatched from them 3,000 years ago and gave it to the ‘special people’. The IDF is doing “HaShem’s” work by keeping the ‘gentiles’ in a cage called ‘Gaza’ and waiting for the ‘messiah’ to come and slaughter all of them.
Uneducated author: A person who loves to write against Israel, hence automatically qualifies as anti-Semite. We’re the sons of G-d so no one dare say a single word against us otherwise we’ll cage him/her, denounce as terrorists, assassinate them in broad daylight or even nuke them
Real newspaper: A paper that loves to kiss Israel’s ass even if it’s full of shit that’s been dropped on neighouring Arab countries or Western allies. A newspaper that supports every single move of ours and terms it as our right to existence but denounces every single act of our G-d appointed enemies like Arabs and Muslims and every other people who support our enemies or are critical of our actions.
Wonderful place: Israel is a wonderful place because we’re a nation that champions apartheid policies. We can do what even Nazis were ashamed to commit and we’re proud of it. We’re handful yet we control the world media, the USA, the EU, hence the whole world. We are the people who were chosen by HaShem to enslave the gentiles, humiliate them, kill them, maim them. We don’t learn lessons from history instead we teach our own history. Israel is a wonderful place because we’re recreated a holocaust without Jews on the receiving end this time. So come to this wonderful place if you’ve got a chopped d***k. We’ll give you (snatched) land, (illegal) house, (seedy) women, guns (to massacre innocent gentiles) and money to splash on all things wonderful. So what are you waiting for? Come to the Land of G-d and join the killing spree!
Dear Mr. Hammond, though I understand the need to preserve free speech and so forth, and the need to stir up debate in order to keep the discussion going, as a regular visitor of your site, I feel I also have my rights when visiting, such as not encurring in the risk of vomiting.
So, please, I would like to point out that removing comments of entities such as “Oded” or “tal”, would really go a long way towards this end for me and, I’m confident, several other readers.
Thank you
Thank you Lat. I could not have said it better. Israel is quickly becoming an insult to the word democracy. They obviously have no clue on what the word means.
