There may be another aspect to “The US grand strategy” which we should not overlook where the EU could be made to look very foolish indeed.
These days you do not need go outside your own door to see what is going on in the world. All the major powers have TV stations broadcasting in English and you need only flick through them at regular intervals to find out where each of them stands on the war to overthrow the Libyan government. For the most part reports on the war itself are boringly predictable. However one or two aspects surprise me.
Fox News spews out its usual hatred but most of it is not reserved for Gaddafi but for American public servants and their unions showing that all is not well with Uncle Sam. Perhaps they do not want to add to the odium in which America is held throughout the world.
Russian television RT has taken the anti-war side probably because as an oil-producer it sees that if things go on as they are with Iraq, Libya etc it is only a matter of time before it finds itself in the firing line.
As for the BBC and Sky News the cutbacks and layoffs of public servants both military and civilian have pushed the war to a minor event. The same is true of France 24 with the war in the Ivory Coast where the French have stuck their noses into the affairs of another poor country. Maybe both are embarrassed at their backing for the rabble in the deserts of Libya.
Iran’s Press TV was initially delighted with events in Libya but now that their friends in Syria are coming into line for American intervention it is beginning to dawn on them that as an oil-producing country and their strategic importance makes the future look inevitable if the Americans are not stopped now.
The twist in the tale is China’s CCTV. The Chinese have been making the right noises about protecting civilians etc while keeping their cards close to their chest. However I was surprised yesterday when CCTV was reporting on a press-conference by Libyan officials showing the Libyan water pipes to the world in order that they would not be hit by Nato bombing. In this report it seemed to me that their displeasure with the Libyan government being still in control of the oil terminals was obvious. I was surprised by this until it dawned on me that the Chinese had most to gain by an American takeover of Libyan oil resources. We know that the Americans through squandering and gambling are up to their necks in debt to the Chinese with no hope of paying it back except in worthless paper dollars or oil. Otherwise why would the Americans so shamelessly act like alcoholics, compulsive gamblers or drug addicts and rob from Libya and their friends in Europe who depend so much on Libyan oil.

The US does not actually steal the oil. It’s done in a more insidious way. Kissinger’s petrodollar recycling plan ensures that the US dollar denominated oil is sold and asd a result invested in US treasury and banks. They then divy the capital flows between themselves , the US banker, and its G8 “franchisees.’ Other nations such as Australia play the part of “brokers”, essentially acting as mercenaries rewarded with FTA for their bug business interests.
Russia meanwhile is also a member of the BRIC nations and eager to replace the US dollar hegemony with regional currencies which would see it become a regional power again.

The signs would indicate that China won’t be hood-winked. And according to website:
the People’s Republic of China, have a written option to exercise Eminent Domain within the USA, as collateral for China’s continued purchase of US Treasury Notes and existing US Currency reserves which would be permit China to physically take inside the USA land, buildings, factories, perhaps even entire cities to satisfy the financial obligations of the US government.
I wonder is there any truth in this?
Wars of aggression are crimes against humanity but a windfall for war industries and corporate interests. To gain support for such wars imperial powers, presently the United States, have cleverly manipulated the public opinion both at home and abroad by resorting to false information, deception and lies.
What Mr Chibo calls the “hook” for such such stories in the media is a ploy to advance the state policies which otherwise people may object to. It also shows how the feelings and social consciousness of ordinary people are played upon.
