One thing Obama does not possess is courage necessary to be independent, being one’s own man. He could have made history by being a contrarian, saying basically the war can not be won in Afghanistan, let’s pull out! He opted for vainglory version of history. He is learning a hard lesson. Let us hope he has intelligence to assimilate it. The calamities in Iraq and Afganistan are our collective responsibility. We all acquiesced in these illegal, racist, amoral, colonial wars of the West. When the Western colonialists leave with their tails between their legs, we all must repent and contribute to the future of Iraq and Afghanistan. Our collective guilt may assuage only when we can put all Afghan & Iraqi children in the classrooms to gurantee them a future which we denied their parents.
